Anne-Stanton-obit-webMELROSE — Anne F. (McGee) Stanton of Melrose passed away on her 62nd wedding anniversary at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on April 18. She was 87 years of age.

Anne was born in Melrose on July 14, 1929 to the late James and Mary (Farley) McGee. Mrs. Stanton was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar & St. Mary’s High School and then from Bridgewater State College. Prior to having children she worked as a first grade teacher in Malden.

Anne has been a lifelong resident of Melrose, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. Anne had been a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, enjoyed taking trips to Hampton Beach and Alton Bay in New Hampshire, was a lover of animals, especially her cats and dogs and liked watching General Hospital.

Anne was the beloved wife of the late James F. Stanton Sr. She was the loving mother of John M. Stanton and his wife Donna and James F. Stanton Jr. and his wife Ellen, all of Melrose. She was the proud grandmother of Jessica, Maryanne, Shawn, Ryan and Kelly and great grandmother of Jonathan, Alexander and Jade McDermott.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10 a.m.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
