READING — Annette M. Butler, 88, of Reading and formerly of Wakefield, died Wednesday, October 4 at her residence.

Born in Boston on August 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Georgia V. (Cabral) McKenna.

Annette was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. She then went on to graduate from the Malden School of Business. A longtime Wakefield resident, Mrs. Butler had lived in town since 1960 where she was longtime employee of Shawmut Bank.

In her day, she enjoyed knitting, playing Bingo, and trips to Foxwoods.

Annette was the beloved wife of the late John P. “Jackie” Butler. She was the loving mother of John E. Butler and his partner Donna Percoco of Stoneham, Maureen Glynn and her husband Robert of Plymouth, Kathleen M. Chapman and her husband Richard of Wakefield, Janeen M. Costello and her late husband Jack of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Arlene Glynn, Phyllis Horton, and Marilyn Lester.  She is survived by her seven grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, Shane, Shaylah, Justin, Andrew, and Kaitlyn, as well as six great grandchildren, Scotty, Tyler, Jenna, Nolan, Noah, and Casey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and best friend, Jean Halloran of Wakefield.

Annette’s family wishes to acknowledge Josephine Nelson for her compassionate care of Annette over the past several months.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
