STONEHAM — Anthony P. “Tony” Reis, Jr., of Stoneham, passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham on March 23, 2024, at 92 years of age.

Husband of Josephine “Jody” (Tringale) Reis for over 50 years. Father of Regina Reis, Lisa Cash, Andrea Reis, Elena Doucette and Perry Reis. Caring brother of the late Walter J. Reis, formerly of Marlborough.

Mr. Reis was born in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1949. He went on to earn his degrees from both Bentley College, Class of 1957 and Suffolk University, Class of 1961. Anthony proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, servicing in Korea from 1952-1954.

Anthony had a professional career in the healthcare industry, starting as an Auditor for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for 5 years, Accounting Consultant for the Massachusetts Hospital Association for 5 years, Controller for the Newton Wellesley Hospital for 7 years, Director for Fiscal Services for the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for 10 years and retired from the Lahey Clinic Medical Center as the Vice President for finance after serving for 10 years. Mr. Reis was a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and served on many of its committees, serving as its President from 1972-1973. Anthony also served on “The Friends of Somerville High School”, a scholarship committee for Somerville students entering college. He was also a member of The Old Timer’s Club. After retirement, he drove cars for Enterprise for over 10 years to stay active.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 29 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will be held at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
