LOLA BARRETT

WAKEFIELD — Wakefield High senior Lola Barrett was recently named to the Boston Herald’s gymnastics All-Scholastic team.

Barrett, a senior captain, led the WMHS gymnastics team to a 4-1 record this season, earning another Middlesex League All-Star award.

Barrett was voted team MVP for the fourth consecutive season. She qualified for senior nationals and was a part of the 9.5 club when she reached that score on bars during Wakefield’s win over Melrose. The all around gymnast averaged a 9.16 on bars, a 9.35 on floor, an 8.97 on beam and an 8.63 on vault this season.

Barrett qualified for New England’s last year and competed at State Individuals.

The Honor Roll student also competes in tennis and diving. She is attending Sacred Heart University next year where she will compete on the diving team.

Barrett was a part of Wakefield gymnastics nine-member senior class this year. The Warrior nine helped Wakefield earn their first victory in over a decade during their freshman season. Over the last four years, the Warriors went 21-6.
