LYNNFIELD — Betty A. Murphy, 91, of Lynnfield died Tuesday, Dec. 22 at her home.
Ms. Murphy was born in Somerville on Feb. 4, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Clarke) Murphy.
Ms. Murphy was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1941. She had been a Lynnfield resident since 1970. She had worked for the Boston Archdiocese in their accounting department for 11 years before her retirement in 1988. Prior to that job, she was with the A&P Supermarket Corporation in their accounting department. Ms. Murphy also enjoyed shopping and traveling.
She was the sister of Robert J. Murphy of Lynnfield and the late Bernard P., John M. and Alice L. Murphy and Mildred M. Patterson. Betty is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Grove and Salem streets, Lynnfield on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Interment to follow at Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives was held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the Mass.
