LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling team celebrated a terrific season during the Black and Gold’s annual end of the season banquet last week. The Black and Gold concluded the dual meet season with a 14-13-1 record during the co-op team’s 13th year. LNR head coach Craig Stone noted the grapplers concluded the season with a winning record for the 10th consecutive year. He said 15 wrestlers placed at the Cohasset Tournament, and seven wrestlers placed at the Anthony Lisitano Tournament in Wakefield. Additionally, Stone said four wrestlers placed at the Cape Ann League/Northeastern Conference Tournament, three wrestlers placed at the Division III North Sectional Tournament and one grappler placed at the Pentucket Holiday Tournament. “We had much to celebrate,” said Stone. Senior captains Joe Reardon, Adam Rossetti and Connor Stead were recognized as CAL All-League wrestlers during the banquet. “Stead also received the Cape Ann League wrestler of the year award,” said Stone. Freshmen Giovanni Colucciello, Chris Metrano and Daniel Ryan each received first year Iron Man Awards. Junior Andrew DiPietro received his third Iron Man Award. Rossetti and Stead each received their fourth Iron Man Award during the banquet. Metrano won the 90 Point Club Award. Freshman Sean McCullough received the 100 Point Club Award. DiPietro was the recipient of the Most Desire Award. Junior Anthony Wilkinson received three awards, Most Improved, 100 Point Club and Most Pins. Junior Kevin Farrelly also received three awards, Most Improved, 90 Point Club and Fastest Fall. Senior Will Glover, senior Chris Reardon, senior Tim Goucher and senior Aaron Gautreau each won an Unsung Hero Award. Rossetti received four awards, the Coaches Award, 100 Point Club, Most Wins and Most Points. Stead received the Outstanding Achievement Award, the 70 Point Club, Most Takedowns and the John O’Donnell Team Spirit Award. Joe Reardon won the Contributed Most Award and the 90 Point Club Award. Stone presented varsity letters to Metrano, freshman Timmy Leggett, Ryan, Colucciello, freshman Eric Benecke, McCullough, freshman Brandon Quellette, freshman Justin Charak, sophomore Dylan Reardon, DiPietro, Wilkinson, Farrelly, Gautreau, Goucher, Chris Reardon, Joe Reardon, Rossetti and Stead. The Black and Gold elected DiPietro, Wilkinson and Farrelly as captains for the 2017-2018 season. Stone said the locals’ six departing seniors will be missed. “LNR will miss the contributions of the graduating seniors, who amassed an 76-27-2 dual meet record over the past four years,” said Stone.
