LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling team won its only contest last week, improving the Black and Gold’s overall record this season to 9-1-1.

The grapplers defeated Shepherd Hill 39-24 Jan. 4.

Sophomore Dylan Reardon (126 lbs.) filled in for injured senior Will Glover, and secured his third career pin in 5:47. Senior captain Adam Rossetti (138 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 5:47.

“(Rossetti) improved his overall record to 12-5 and leads the team with 55 dual meet points,” said Black and Gold head coach Craig Stone.

Senior captain Connor Stead (145 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:14.

“(Stead) leads the team with 19 dual meet takedowns and has a 10-1 overall record,” said Stone.

Freshman Sean McCullough (160 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by fall in 18 seconds, which improved his overall record to 10-8. Junior Andrew DiPietro (170 lbs.) defeated his opponent by a 3-2 decision.

Freshman Stuart Glover (106 lbs.), freshman Chris Metrano (113 lbs.), freshman Timmy Leggett (120 lbs.), senior captain Joe Reardon (132 lbs.) and freshman Giovanni Colucciello (152 lbs.) won their respective matches by forfeit.

“LNR won the first two matches to lead 9-0,” said Stone. “Shepherd Hill roared back to take a 24-9 lead after six matches. But, the key to our team’s success this year has been our overall balance, and it showed with the Black and Gold winning the last eight weight classes.
