WAKEFIELD — Blanche M. Sarno, 92, of Wakefield died Wednesday, Nov. 19 at her home.

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada on May 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Catherine (Doucette) Porter.

Mrs. Sarno moved to Wakefield as a young child and was raised and educated in town. She had many passions in life and loved to knit and to bake; she entertained other hobbies such as sewing, attending yard sales and reading. Additionally, she was an active member of St. Joseph Church.

Mrs. Sarno was the wife of the late Carmino Sarno. She was the mother of Bonnie Bellefeuille of New Hampshire, Steven Sarno of Wakefield, Michael Sarno and his late wife Linda of Reading and Nancy Gilchrist and her husband Gordon of Reading. She was the sister of Joseph Porter of Wakefield and the late Herald Porter, Anita Gravalese and Mildred Charest. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., at 10 a.m. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
