MELROSE — The Melrose Public Library is welcoming back Channel 5’s news and sports anchor, Bob Halloran, to The Author’s Corner on Tuesday, February 23 at 7 p.m.

Halloran will be talking about his newly released, White Devil: The True Story of the First White Asian Crime Boss. The book tells the true story of John Willis, the only white man to rise to the top of the Chinese mafia. Haley Booksellers will have books available for purchase.

Halloran has also written five other books: Impact Statement: A Family’s Fight for Justice against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi, and the FBI. He also wrote Irish Thunder: the hard life and times of Micky Ward, which Halloran served as a technical consultant for the Academy Award nominated film “The Fighter” starring Mark Wahlberg as Irish Micky Ward and Best Supporting Actor, Christian Bale as Micky’s brother Dicky Eklund. He is also the author of Destiny Derailed, about the 2003 Red Sox; Breakdown: A Season of Gang Warfare, High School Football, and the Coach who Policed the Streets, where Halloran gets inside the life-or-death struggles of student athletes from various gangs in Chelsea. He is also the author of In The Fellowship of the No Longer Miserable, which was written as a fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund.

Halloran is the recipient of a New England Emmy Award and two honors from the Associated Press.

He is a graduate of Washington & Lee and lives in the Boston area with his wife Eileen Curran and their daughter Grace. He has three sons, Sean, Daniel and Liam.
