League champions lead Freedom division balloting
WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League boys’ indoor track coaches met recently to make this year’s all-stars selections in the Freedom and Liberty divisions.
For the Freedom division champion Wakefield Memorial High boys’ indoor track team, it had 10 athletes chosen as all-stars.
Senior Jackson Gallagher led the way as he was honored in the 600 meters and was named the league’s MVP.
Ian Ritchie, a senior, was named an all-star in the 1000.
Sophomore Adam Roberto was chosen in the mile.
In the 55 meter dash, junior Eric Chi was named an all-star for the Warriors.
In the two field events, senior Ben Joly named an all-star in the shot put while senior Pat Casaletto earned all-star honors in the high jump.
Senior Cam Yasi, junior Joe Boudreau, senior Tyler Strauss and senior Joe Hurton were named all-stars in the 4×400 relay.
The Warriors led the Freedom division balloting with the six individual all-stars, four runners in the relay and the league MVP. Runner-up Burlington was next with six all-stars, while Watertown had three chosen. Melrose, Stoneham and Wilmington each had two all-stars named.
In the Liberty division, Woburn led the way with seven individual all-stars, one relay team and one of the league co-MVPs. Reading was next with seven individual all-stars and one of the league co-MVPs. Lexington had six all-stars, Winchester had three and both Belmont and Arlington both had one all-star chosen.
