Down Danvers 10-4

DANVERS — Junior captain Kevin Murphy and sophomore Sean Fagen each recorded a hat trick as the Hornets downed the Danvers Falcons 10-4 on the road April 6.

Senior Jack Schille and sophomore Mike Sheridan both added two goals apiece.

The Hornets got off to another strong start in this game. They controlled both ends of the field in the first half and went into halftime with a 5-1 lead.

North Reading continued to be in control in the second half. They outscored the Falcons 5-3 and went on to the easy 10-4 victory.

Escape Nantucket with a 13-8 victory

Seniors Sean Buckley, Mike Sheridan and Kevin Murphy all scored a hat trick as the Hornets traveled down to Nantucket where they beat the Whalers 13-8 on Saturday afternoon.

Sean Fagen also potted two goals and four assists while Jack Schille tallied two goals and two assists to round out the day’s scoring.

North Reading played well in the first quarter. They scored three times and held Nantucket to one goal, leading 3-1 after one. The Whalers didn’t go away though, in the second stanza, and by halftime had cut the Hornets’ lead to 5-4.

The third quarter was tightly contested and by the end of three NRHS clung to an 8-6 lead. But in the fourth North Reading put any thoughts of a Nantucket comeback to bed. They outscored the Whalers 5-2 and went home with their third victory of the season.

The Hornets hosted Triton Tuesday afternoon (after press time) and travel to rival Lynnfield Pioneer territory on Friday, April 14 for a 4 p.m. start.
