WAKEFIELD — Police are investigating a series of break-ins at businesses in Lakeside Office Park that appear to be related. Following a weekend break at a chiropractic office in which computer equipment and cash was stolen, police received three more calls yesterday as business owners discovered similar burglaries in nearby offices. All of the incidents are believed to have occurred at around that same time last weekend.

Police received calls yesterday regarding breaks into offices of DaVinci Advertising Group, Genesis insurance and Fracht USA. Damage to the doors was observed at all of the businesses that were entered. Computer equipment and cash was reported stolen. All of the breaks are under investigation.

A man came to police headquarters at about 8:30 a.m. yesterday to report that someone had apparently obtained the PIN number to his credit card and was able to withdraw about $1,800 from his account.

At about 8:30 a.m. Liberty Chevrolet on Bay State Road reported that tires and rims valued at $3,000 had been stolen off a 2017 Chevy Silverado parked on the lot.

At about 9:45 a.m. yesterday, a Broadway woman reported that her laptop computer had been stolen. She said that she had put the laptop in a desk drawer in October 2016 and just noticed that it was missing. There are no suspects at this time.

A 19-year-old Wakefield man will be summonsed to court on a variety of motor vehicle-related charges after fleeing from police when they tried to stop the moped that he was operating on Salem Street. Police initially saw the moped exit the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot onto Salem Street at a high rate of speed at around 6 p.m. At one point the driver went up onto the sidewalk. Police tried to pull the moped over at it passed Walton Street heading toward Lynnfield. According to police, the moped operator looked back but kept driving and took a right onto Kimball Lane, continued to the end and entered the woods.

Police set up a perimeter and a short time later another officer spotted the moped traveling at a high rate of speed on Montrose Avenue and was able to pull the bike over. The operator of the moped will be summonsed to court to face charges of failing to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.

At about 11:30 last night, a caller reported that he found fraudulent charges on his debit card after using it to purchase gas at the Cumberland Farms on Lowell Street last night at about 10 p.m. Police said that the gas pumps showed no evidence of tampering. The victim will follow up with his bank and police will monitor the situation for any further issues.

A 23-year-old Stoneham woman was arrested early this morning for her second drunk driving offense after police spotted her driving a vehicle with heavy front end damage at a high rate of speed on Nahant Street. Police heading east on Nahant Street spotted the vehicle at about 1:45 a.m. heading in the opposite direction. After turning around, police clocked the car at 55 mph. According to police, the car crossed Main Street before police were able to pull the car over on Broadway near Foundry Street.

Police observed heavy front end damage and a smashed windshield. They said that it appeared that the driver had struck a pole, but police were unable to determine where the accident occurred. While speaking with the driver, police detected an odor of alcohol. After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, they arrested Rachel Walker of 26 Seward Rd. in Stoneham for OUI (second offense). She faces additional charges of speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
