LEBANON, NH — Carolyn Joyce (Head) Columbus, 84, died Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, in Lebanon, NH.

She was born on November 26, 1936 in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Cyril Head and Louise (Butler) Head, of Newfoundland.

Carol was a graduate of Malden High School. She married William “Bill” Barter and resided in Wakefield, Mass. In 1974 she moved to Chester, NH, became the wife of Alexander Columbus, and owned an arts and crafts business.

Carol also obtained certification as a professional graphologist — accomplished in forensic handwriting analysis. After traveling extensively, her last residence was Stuart, Florida, where Alzheimer’s played a major role in her final years.

From an early age, Carol was highly recognized and known as caring and helpful. She was a special woman who was truly loved by all! Her handwriting and card reading abilities provided insight to many. As a spiritually gifted person, Carol’s talents and practical guidance provided relief and enjoyment to many over her lifetime.

Carolyn was predeceased by her two sisters, Laura (Head) Bray and Joan (Head) DiCicco.

She is survived by husband Alexander Columbus; sister Phyllis (Head) Botarri; sons Bill Barter and Dan Barter; grandchildren Faith (Barter) Gomez, Jessie (Barter) Pelletier, Owen Barter, Sawyer Barter, and many nieces and nephews.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire has provided services in accordance with Carol’s requests. There will be no formal services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
