Registered sex offender arrested again

MELROSE — A 33-year-old Beacon Place man, who was charged last year after allegedly climbing through a window of an Endicott College student’s dorm room and watching her as she slept, has been arrested again after police spotted him hanging around the back of a West Emerson Street apartment building.

MELROSE — The Gately Funeral Home is supporting veterans with a fundraiser evening at Giacomo’s Restaurant on Tuesday, October 22 from 5-9 p.m. at 454 Main Street.   

Hosted by Giacomo’s co-owners, Richard Talieri and Joe Dinarello, the event features delicious food and fun, all while raising money for local veterans.

Track work on W. Foster at Berwick begins Friday

MELROSE — The railroad crossing on West Foster Street at Berwick will be closed from the time the last train goes through on Friday, September 27 (about 12:30 Saturday morning) until Sunday night so the MBTA can do track work.

MELROSE — State Rep. Paul Brodeur and Alderman-at-Large Monica Medeiros will face off in November’s mayoral race after getting the most votes in Tuesday’s preliminary election.

Brodeur topped the five-candidate ticket with 2,576 votes, followed by Medeiros’ 2,397. Jackie Lavender Bird, formerly an at-large alderman and one-time director of Community Services

City applies for DEP grant for sewer work

MELROSE — The City of Melrose recently applied for a $60,000 Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) grant to allow it to better keep track of sewer maintenance and pinpoint possible trouble spots. DPW submitted the application for an asset management grant in August 2019, and the outcome will be announced
