BEDFORD, N.H. — Catherine M. “Kay’ (Silck) Hill, 86. a resident of Bedford, New Hampshire, and formerly a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Kay was born in Winthrop on March 29, 1931, and was one of five children of the late Catherine M. (Walsh) Silck and Frederick J. Silck. She was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School with the Class of 1950, where she served on the student government as class treasurer. She was married to the late Frederick B. Hill and they settled in Melrose to raise a family of four children.
A caring mother, Kay was always concerned with the happiness of her children, and later worried about her grandchildren. With her great sense of humor, Kay loved to get a laugh out of anyone. She was always smiling, and had a warm, welcoming presence wherever she was.
Kay was the wife of the late Frederick B. Hill. She was the devoted mother of Karen M. McHugh and her husband Patrick of Bedford, Texas; Michael T. Hill and his wife Cathy of Bedford, New Hampshire; Judy A. Allan and her husband Bill of Melrose; and Richard M. Hill and his wife Mary of Medford. She was the caring sister of John Silck, and the late Frederick Silck, Jr., Claire Tully and Arline McLean. She was the loving grandmother of Paul McHugh, Matt McHugh, Daniel McHugh, Kathryn Hill, Jon Hill, Julie Couture, Amanda Santarpio, and William Allan. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Hailey Couture, Chloe Couture, William Allan, Audrey Allan, Adam McHugh and Allison McHugh.
Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Kay’s life for her Funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2017.
