downtownshopping_webMelrosians enjoy their outdoor community events, and two more are coming up in a week.

The Chamber of the Commerce and its municipal partner will host the Third Summer Stroll: An Adult Evening on Main Street, on Friday, July 17.

With support from TD Bank and the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts, Main Street will be closed to vehicles and transformed into a two block walk way, spanning from Upham Street to Grove Street.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be live musical performances by area musicians and a local illusionist will entertain along Main Street.

Restaurants will serve food and beverages on the sidewalk, while our local merchants will offer tastings, demos, specials and sales within their stores. The YMCA will also offer babysitting services that night. Registration is required. For more information, please call the Y at 781-665-4360.

The next day, barring serious rain, the city will put on its second Four Corners Music Festival, an event that celebrates local musicians.

From 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a children’s party with music and much, much more at Cedar Park. The festivities continue for older people at Hesseltine Field behind the Horace Mann School from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Check out the festivities and discover what makes Melrose so special.
