WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Chamber of Commerce has officially changed its name to the Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce. The name change was approved by Chamber members at the annual meeting.

“The change of name not only links the two communities, it also provides extensive networking opportunities for local businesses in both towns,” co-Presidents Suzanne Bowering and Cheryl Carroll noted. “Lynnfield businesses now have the opportunity to become active in, and benefit from, the Wakefield Chamber’s 80-plus years of service and commitment to the business community.

“With Lynnfield not having its own Chamber of Commerce, it seemed fitting to expand Wakefield’s Chamber to include businesses that have been a part of the Lynnfield community for many years,” they noted. “We look forward to not only providing them with resources and support to promote their successes, but also to working with the entire community in sponsoring events and opportunities for residents and businesses. The change reflects the organization’s changing demographics and increasing membership from Lynnfield businesses.”

“We are pleased that our members have approved this change and we are excited to welcome new members from our neighboring community,” the co-presidents concluded.

The co-presidents’ sentiments were echoed by Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce Director Jason Kimball of Lynnfield.

“As a lifelong resident of Lynnfield and a member of the Board of Directors of the Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce, I could not be happier with the merging of the towns under one chamber,” he said. “No doubt this merger will reap benefits for businesses throughout the town.”
