Served in U.S. Air Force; usher at St. Maria Goretti Church

OBIT-Canali-webLYNNFIELD — Charles F. Canali, 76, of Lynnfield and formerly of Dorchester, died on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at his residence.

Born on April 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Madeline (Doucett) Canali.

Charles was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of B.C. High School and later graduated from Northeastern University. He also earned his MBA from Babson College. He had worked at Lucent Technologies where he retired in 1996. He was a member of the Society of American Engineers and also a member of Hochflieger Ski Club of N.H. He served in the U.S. Air Force and volunteered with the A.A.R.P. He loved to travel, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member and long-time usher at the St. Maria Goretti Church in Lynnfield.

He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline A. (White). He was the loving father of Marais C. Young and husband Peter of Arlington, John J. Canali of Georgia, and Dr. Laura M. Canali of Washington. He was the grandfather of Nathaniel and Brendan Young.

His funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, March 17 followed by a funeral Mass at St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the funeral home on Monday. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery.
