U.S. Army veteran with local survivors

REVERE — Charles G. Perullo, 86, of Revere died following a lengthy illness on Monday, May 9, at his Revere residence. Born and raised in Revere, he was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1948. He entered the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict in March of 1951 and served with the rank of Corporal until March of 1953. He returned to the work force as a master printer for the Malden Evening News of Malden. He retired from Malden Evening News, after 30 years of service. “Charlie” was a long-time member of the American Legion Post #61 of Revere and a member of the Typographers Union.
He and his beloved wife Lucy M. (Gatto) Perullo, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Feb. 4, 2016. He was the cherished father of LouAnn Stanton and her husband Christopher B. of Melrose, Mary L. O’Neill and her husband David T. of Bridgewater and Charles E. Perullo and his wife Joanne of Revere. He was the cherished grandfather of Charles M., Nicole L. and James J. Perullo, all of Revere and Kristen L. O’Neill of West Hartford, CT. and Kati F. O’Neill of Chicago, III. He was the dear brother of Rita P. Enos of Revere, Ronald J. Perullo and his wife, Eva of North Reading and the late Edith R. DeYeso, Edward L. Perullo, Rose Hayman, Eugene Perullo and Mary Fuccione. He is also lovingly survived by his sister–in–law, Constance F. “Connie” Perullo of Derry, N.H., formerly of Revere and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Charlie was gentlemen’s gentleman, first and foremost affording him to be, the quintessential husband, dad, pappa, brother, uncle and friend to many.
His funeral was conducted from the Vertuccio and Smith Funeral Home in Revere on Saturday, May 14 followed by the funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere.
Entombment will be in Woodlawn Community Mausoleum (Versailles), Everett.
