CutCharlesSpellmanObitNR122916-webREADING – Charles J. Spellman died following a lengthy illness at the Sawtelle Family Hospice of Reading on Friday evening, December 23rd.
Raised & educated in Revere, he was a 1958 alumnus of Revere High School. He was also an alumnus of M.I.T. He spent a 6 month stint with the U.S. Air Force from January of 1963 to June of 1963, as an Airman 3rd Class during the Vietnam Era. A majority of his working career, was with the sale & distribution of High Technology Electrical Motors selling to facilities & institutions. For about eight years, he operated his own company, “C-MOTION” of North Reading until retirement in 2005. For over 47 years, Charles & his family lived in North Reading, where he was most active in youth soccer and coaching in softball & youth soccer. He & his wife of 53 years, Judith A. (Cosco) Spellman returned to Revere, three years ago. Besides his wife, he leaves three (3) children.
He is the devoted father of James C. Spellman & his wife, Heather of Derry, N.H., Craig A. Spellman & his wife, Sinead Healy of Methuen & Lynne M. Spellman & her husband, Paul Rogers of Somerville. He is the cherished Grandfather of Rachel L. Spellman & Jacob S. Spellman both of Derry, NH & Ciara H. & Adam C. Spellman, both of Methuen. He is the brother of the late Andrew Spellman. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, December 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. His funeral will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 30 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. and Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m.
