Captures discus title to lead Warriors to fourth place finish

WESTON — The Wakefield Memorial High boys’ outdoor track team crowned one champion and had many other place winners at the Middlesex

League Championship Meet which was held Tuesday at Regis College.

Charlie Senior, a junior, was crowned the champion in the discus with a throw of 123’5”. The distance was a PR.

As a team, Wakefield was fourth overall and scored the most points ever the M.L. Championship Meet with 83 points.

Woburn won the meet with 116.3 points, while Burlington and Lexington tied for second place with 90 points.

There were a number of other Warriors that did well in the meet, too.

In the shot put, senior Cole Mottl was third with a throw of 46’2 1/2” and junior Pat Redmond was fifth with a throw of 45’0”. Redmond also was third in the discus with a throw of 119’5”.

Two sprinters scored points in the 100 meter dash. Dan Sallade, a senior, ran his PR of the season of 11.62 seconds and was sixth overall. Henry Stikeman, a junior, also ran a PR of 11.8 seconds and he was seventh overall.

In the 200 meter dash, senior Dan Summers ran a time of 24.45 seconds and was 13th. Jared Hurley, a junior, clocked in at 25.2 seconds and was 21st.

Brian Smith, a sophomore, took seventh overall in the 400 meter run in a time of 52.76 seconds.

In the 800 meter run, senior Adam Roberto ran a PR of 1:59.25 and was second, while senior Ryan Sullivan ran a 2:02.64 and claimed fourth overall. Also, freshman Tanner Jellison ran a 2:05.36 and was ninth in the event.

Matt Greatorex, a junior, ran a huge PR of 4:23.21 and captured second overall in the mile.

Sophomore Carter Margolis ran a PR of 4:44.28 and was ninth in the mile.

In the two mile, Tommy Lucey, a junior, ran a 10:34.60 and was eighth overall scoring a point. Also running the two mile were junior Riley Brackett (10:40.83, ninth) and sophomore Casey Brackett (11:03.42, 18th).

Junior Sam Morey ran a time of 17.79 seconds and was 14th overall in the 110 high hurdles, while Tommy Galvin, a sophomore, ran a time of 20.25 seconds and finished in 22nd place.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Morey ran a time of 66.18 seconds and was 24th and Jack Stevens, a senior, clocked in at 69.05 seconds and was 25th.

Junior Marc Biennestin, Stikeman, Sallade, and Smith ran the fastest time in 10 years and they were second in the 4×100 relay at 44.08 seconds.

In the 4×400 relay, the team of Greatorex, Sullivan, Summers, and Roberto were second with a time of 3:29.65.

In the 4×800 relay, the quartet of Lucey, Margolis, junior Ryan Ritchie, and Jellison ran a time of 8:50.53 and were sixth overall.

Biennestin placed third in the high jump as he cleared 6’0” and sixth in the long jump with a distance of 19’8”.

In the triple jump, Galvin had a jump of 35’10 3/4 and was 20th and Morey jumped 35’3” and was 22nd.

CJ Wixon, a senior, had a throw of 102’3” and was 22nd in the javelin.
