MELROSE — With all deadlines past, the November 3 city election ballot is set. There will be contested races for alderman-at-large, Ward 1 alderman, Ward 3 alderman, Ward 5 alderman and School Committee this year.

Just as importantly, voters also will decide the fate of a requested $2.25 million override of Proposition 2 1/2.

Margaret ER Driscoll is the only one of three current School Committee members running for reelection November 3. Driscoll’s position is up in the 2015 city election cycle, as are those of current board Chairman Kristin Thorp and Donald Constantine. Thorp and Constantine decided not to run again.

There are three four-year positions up for reelection on the School Committee. Driscoll, a Boston Rock Road resident, was the only incumbent to take out nomination papers for reelection, on August 12. She joins Tappan Street’s Jaime McAllister-Grande, Lizbeth DeSelm of South High Street and Edward J. O’Connell of Cleveland Street in the school board race. O’Connell took out nomination papers August 24, McAllister-Grande pulled papers May 26 and DeSelm took out papers July 2.

There are five people running for four at-large alderman seats: Michael Zwirko, incumbent Mary Beth McAteer Margolis, incumbent Monica Medeiros, Jean-Daniel G. LaRock and incumbent Donald L. Conn Jr.

Joseph Musto will challenge incumbent Alderman John Tramontozzi in Ward 1.

Ward 3’s Francis X. Wright Jr. will be challenged by Mark Askenazy.

Ward 5’s Gail Infurna will be challenged by Anthony Fera.
