NORTHBOROUGH — The Danvers-Lynnfield-North Reading High co-op gymnastics team missed winning its first-ever state tile by just .45 points as they placed second in the MIAA State Championship last Saturday at Algonquin Regional High School in Northboro.

Masconomet won its fourth-straight state crown with a final score of 148.60 while the Falcons were second with 148.15. Central Catholic was third with a 147.35.

“What an incredible way to end an amazing season,” stated Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “We had our best meet of the season. We hit 22 out of 24 routines. I couldn’t ask for much more.”

The Falcons were led by Kaylee Wescott as the 8th-grader tied for second overall in the all-around with a score of 38.6. She was second on the floor exercise (9.775) and on the balance beam (9.6). She came on third on the bars (9.575) and was fourth in the vault (9.65).

Maddie Migliero also had a big day coming in fifth overall in the all-around with a 36.75. The Lynnfield freshman was third on the floor (9.650) and fifth on the beam (9.45) and in the vault (9.45). She came in 27thon the bars with an 8.2.

Lynnfield ninth-grader, Camryn Donovan, placed 17th overall despite competing in only three events. She was second on the bars (9.6), seventh on the floor (9.4) and tied for eighth on the beam (9.25).

Tied for 19th place was Wescott’s older sister Maddie. The sophomore captain was fifth on the bars (9.4), 17th on the vault (9.2) and tied for 22nd  on the beam (8.75).

Freshman, DeAnna Figueiredo, had an 8.5 on the floor (26th), a 8.7 in the vault (27th), and a 8.325 on the beam (tied for 32nd).

“We are so proud of this team,” said Habeeb, whose team went 8-1 this year with their lone loss coming to Masconomet.
