WINTHROP — The Lynnfield-North Reading-Danvers High co-op gymnastics team stayed undefeated last Friday night as they beat host Winthrop, 145.2- 131.35, at the Winthrop Gymnastics Academy.

With that win, the Falcons improved to 4-0.

“This was our first away meet of the season, and I could tell the team was nervous,” admitted Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “Our goal was to stay clean and stay on the equipment. The focus was on performing skills we were comfortable and confident with. We had to shift our routines around a bit, but we were able to quickly figure out what would work best. Changing routines around last minute is challenging both physically and mentally, however we still executed our routines well.”

Kaylee Wescott led the way with a meet-high 38.0 in the all-around. The eighth-grader was first in all four events. She had a 9.6 on the bars, a 9.5 on the balance beam, a 9.7 in the floor exercise and she tied her sister, Maddie, with a 9.2 in the vault.

Maddie Wescott, the sophomore captain, placed second in the all-around with a 36.85. She was second behind her sister, on the beam (9.5), and on the bars (9.05) along tying her in the vault.

Maddie Migliero also had a solid night as the freshman from Lynnfield captured second in the vault (9.15), and floor (9.65). She also came in third place on the beam with a score of 9.1.

Camryn Donovan, who is also a Lynnfield ninth-grader, had two third-place finishes on the bars (8.7) and floor (9.4).

“Coach Aimee (Sinewitz) and I were very proud of how the team competed and supported one another,” said Habeeb.”The girls push themselves and each other every meet to perform to their highest potential, and it has really created a team environment that is so compelling be around.”

The next meet for the Falcons will be on Jan. 21 as they host Masconomet and Hamilton-Wenham in a tri-meet at Yellow Jackets in Middleton at 6 p.m. This will be the toughest test for the team as Masco is the defending state champions.

The next day, they host Marblehead at 5 p.m. looking for the season sweep against the Magicians.
