WAKEFIELD — On April 26, the St. Florence Holy Name Society will hold its annual Communion breakfast at 9 a.m. in the church hall. In addition to a fine buffet breakfast provided by Housecalls Catering, attendees will be have the fortune of hearing an informative talk by Dr. Mark Pearlmutter regarding his medical missions to Haiti.

Dr. Mark Pearlmutter is the chief of emergency services for the Steward Healthcare Network. In addition to his responsibilities as a physician, Dr. Pearlmutter has organized many trips to Haiti to provide medical aid to this impoverished country.

In 2010, a major earthquake hit Haiti, killing and wounding many and destroying the medical infrastructure. Dr. Pearlmutter organized his team and returned to Haiti soon after this disaster. His group of local healthcare workers assumed the responsibility of Sacred Heart Hospital, north of the capital, and began providing care to many earthquake victims. He and his team were responsible for saving many lives and getting this hospital back on its feet. His presentation is full of amazing stories and listeners will be left feeling inspired.
