WAKEFIELD — U.S. Congressman Seth Moulton will be the guest speaker at a breakfast event hosted by the Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce and the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce at the Sheraton Colonial on Friday, April 3, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber Executive Director Marianne Cohen and Reading-North Reading Chamber Director Lisa Egan jointly announced recently that State Representative Paul Brodeur (D-Melrose) will emcee the event and introduce Congressman Moulton at the breakfast. The breakfast is sponsored by the Wakefield Co-operative Bank, The Savings Bank, Eastern Bank and East Boston Savings Bank.

Brodeur represents Melrose, half of Wakefield and part of Malden on Beacon Hill.

Cohen said “Paul Brodeur is a valued member of the Chamber and a hard working State Representative. We are grateful for Paul’s participation in our event and look forward to seeing him at the Sheraton Colonial on April 3.” Egan added, “We appreciate Paul’s participation and are eager to hear Congressman Moulton’s early reactions to serving in Congress as well as his views on business issues affecting the Congressional District and the country.”

Brodeur commented, “It will be an absolute honor to introduce Seth at the Chamber’s April 3 event. Seth’s record of service to our country is exemplary. It’s heartening to know that while I’m fighting for quality services my district on Beacon Hill, Congressman Moulton is doing that in Washington. This will be a memorable event. I look forward to seeing many old and new friends at the Sheraton.”

A Salem resident, Congressman Moulton attended Marblehead public schools, Phillips Academy Andover and Harvard College. Following college graduation, he joined the Marine Corps in 2001. Moulton served four tours of duty in Iraq. He led an infantry platoon during the 2003 invasion and was in the first Marine company to enter Baghdad.

After completing his final tour in the Marines, Congressman Moulton earned an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Pursuing his interest in transportation and infrastructure, he served one-year as managing director of Texas Central Railway, a company building a high-speed rail line between Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. Moulton then returned home to Massachusetts to start his own business and later run for Congress.

Moulton was elected to Congress on Nov. 4, 2014 and sworn into the 114th Congress in January 2015. He took over the seat previously held by Congressman John Tierney. Moulton serves as a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Budget Committee.
