ObitMorse-webWAKEFIELD – Damian D. Morse, 37, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 16, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Born in Madrid, Spain on Sept. 13, 1977 and raised in Nottingham, N.H., Damian was the son of Carolyn Morse-Finn and Martin J. Finn. A resident of Wakefield since 2011, Damian was the devoted husband of Jaclyn Ortiz and an amazing father to 5-year-old twins, Paloma and Bodhi. Damian also leaves behind his sister, Lena Hartford and her husband Kevin and children, Gavin and Grace.

Damian graduated Dover, (N.H.) High School in 1995 and attended Connecticut College, earning his B.A. in American History in 1999. Damian spent more than a decade in the field of Immigration Law and worked as a senior paralegal and client services manager at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy in Boston.

An archivist of, and expert in, music across multiple genres, Damian was also DJ Mantisounds and an amateur musicologist. Damian’s mix tapes and music blog inspired many.

Damian will be remembered by his friends for his fierce loyalty, infectious laugh and passion for political issues. His compassion and sense of social justice made Damian a moral compass for all who knew him. He was loved by many and left an indelible mark wherever he went. The world has lost a shining light. He will be missed.

A memorial celebration for Damian will be scheduled sometime in the summer.
