MELROSE — Daniel A. Morrison, 86, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on March 8, 2017.
Dan was born in Everett to the late Daniel and Florence (Wromsley) Morrison. He was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1949. Mr. Morrison entered the U.S. Marines while attending Bentley College, and he served his country with pride during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Bentley College to finish his degree. He worked as an accountant for Arthur D. Little, an auditor at Jordan Marsh Company. He also worked as a wholesale distributor for a grocery warehouse management company, Cressey-Dockham Company, for over 25 years.
Mr. Morrison was a hard working family man. He had a passion for Everett High School football and was a Boston sports. He did support Melrose High football when his grandsons were playing. Dan was a Melrose resident for 49 years, enjoyed working in his garden, doing puzzles and liked taking trips to the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
Mr. Morrison was the beloved husband of 65 years to Barbara (Sheridan) Morrison. He was the loving father of Linda M. Rosatone and her husband Luigi of Everett; Daniel J. Morrison and his wife Geri of New York; Susan E. Waldron and her husband David of Newburyport; and Nancy E. Williams and her husband Jim of Melrose. He was the brother of Beatrice L. Cummings and the late Nancy Sullivan. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Sunday March 12, 2017. A funeral service followed at the funeral home on Monday, March 13. Interment with military honors took place at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
