MIDDLETON — Last Saturday night, the North Reading-Danvers High co-op gymnastics team beat visiting Bishop Fenwick by a final score of 134.1- 124,8, at Yellow Jackets in Middleton. The victory was the second in a row for the Falcons as they finished the regular season at 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the Northeastern Conference-Cape Ann League. They finished in fourth place in the league standings as Masconomet won the league crown

“We had some great performances,” stated Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb.

Maddie Wescott continues to lead the team in scoring as the freshman was first in the All-Around with a 36.15. She was first in three events and captured third in the fourth event.

She had a 9.3 on the bars, a 9.0 on the balance beam and a 9.35 in the vault for the three first-place finishes. Her third-place finish came on the floor exercise with a score of 8.5.

Westcott also qualified to the State Individual competition in the All-Around which will take place at Tewksbury High School on Presidents Day next Monday.

Eighth-grader, DeAnna Figueiredo, was first on the floor with an 8.8.

North Reading senior co-captain, Allie Taylor, was second on the beam with a 8.85 and she placed third in the vault with an 8.75.

Two other Falcon freshman, who are both North Reading residents, placed in the top three as well. Hayden Maclellan had a 7.8 on the bars to capture third while Lindsey Rosenthal was third on the beam with a 8.65.

Senior co-captain, Emily Tobin, placed third in the All-Around with a 31.4.

On Feb. 10, the Falcons rolled over host Peabody, 127.4-81.9, at the Beverly YMCA.

Tobin and Taylor tied for first in the All-Around with a 32.8.

Taylor was first in the vault (9.05), and floor (8.85). Tobin captured first on the beam with a 8.45.

Maclellan had the other first-place finish with a 7.6 on the bars.

The Falcons took all four second-place finishes as well. Tobin was second on the bars (7.5) and vault (8.8). Taylor was second on the beam (7.9) and Figueiredo was second on the floor (8.15).

Figueiredo was third on the beam (7.65) and vault (8.5).

Tobin and Rosenthal tied for third on the bars with a 7.0. Tobin was third on the floor with an 8.0.

“We had a very successful meet with a lot of amazing performances,” recalled Habeeb.

The team will find out later this week if they qualified for the North Sectionals.
