MIDDLETON — Last Sunday afternoon, the Danvers-North Reading High co-op gymnastics team lost its season opener to visiting Beverly, 130.4-127.35., at Yellow Jackets Gymnastics in Middleton.

For the Panthers, it was already their fourth meet of the season giving them an advantage heading in.

“Considering we have only had four practices, I think the girls did a great job,” said Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “If we had the normal practice times like everybody else, I think the result would have been different.”

Beverly improved to 3-1 with the win.

Allie Taylor led the way for the Falcons as she came in first in the vault (8.95), floor exercise (9.3) and in the All Around (33.75). The junior from North Reading was also second on the bars with a score of 7.9.

Ashley Rabbitt, a senior co-captain from North Reading, was tied for second on the balance beam (7.9) and she was second in the All Around (31.2).

Danvers junior Emily Tobin was third on the beam (7.8) and tied for third on the bars (7.7).

The next meet for the Falcons will not be until Feb. 13 as they travel to the Baker’s Gym in Salem to face host Bishop Fenwick in a non-league meet. That event will start at 5 p.m.

“We will get to have five more practices before that meet and that should help us,” said Habeeb.
