NORTH READING – North Reading Little League and the North Reading Diamond Club are again teaming up this fall to give youngsters ages 5-16 the opportunity to develop and improve their baseball skills. Three separate programs are being offered, divided by age groups, to allow for age-appropriate instruction.

For players ages 5-9, there will be a six-week clinic at Benevento Park. It includes one 60-minute weeknight practice per week, with a 90-minute clinic/game each Saturday. The program starts Sept. 9 and costs $150. Youngsters can sign up at www.nrll.org.

The Diamond Club’s competitive Small Diamond program is for players who will be baseball ages 10-12 in 2018. Tryouts for this team take place Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m. at Benevento Park. Meanwhile, the Diamond Club’s Big Diamond program is for those players who will be baseball ages 13-16 in 2018 and is an excellent transition for those youngsters making the move from the Small Diamond. Big Diamond tryouts are set for Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Hood School. The cost for those selected to these teams is $250.

Practices for the Small Diamond and Big Diamond teams start the week of August 28, with games held on Saturdays from early September through mid-October. Small Diamond home games are played at Benevento Park, and the Big Diamond team will play at the Hood School. Away games take place in surrounding communities (Wilmington, Wakefield, Woburn, etc.).
