WAKEFIELD — Doris M. (Sullivan) Gallant of Wakefield died on June 22, 2018 at the Ledgewood Nursing Center in Beverly.

Doris was born in Somerville on June 21, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Wilson) Sullivan.

Doris was raised in the Boston area and worked as a switchboard operator, then later as a librarian at the Lucius Beebe Library in Wakefield for many years. She married her husband Gil in 1953, and enjoyed her family, crafts, cooking and traveling. She was also involved in religious education and other activities at St. Florence Church in Wakefield. For many years, she and Gil hosted a Christmas Eve open house that is fondly remembered by the many family members, friends and neighbors who attended. She passed along a love of reading, humor and fairness to her children.

Doris was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert A. Gallant. She was the loving mother of Gilbert A. Gallant, Jr. and his wife Catherine of Beverly, John S. Gallant and his wife Teri of Hopkinton, Richard L. Gallant of Wakefield and Robert W. Gallant and his wife Nancy of Ipswich. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Paul, and Warren Sullivan and the late Claire Hendricks. She was the grandmother of John T., Courtney, Mark, Jackson J., Allison Gallant and the late Jeffrey C. Gallant.

Her funeral will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, July 3 at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 2 from 4 – 8 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
