LYNNFIELD — Dorothy A. Neavitt, 89, of Lynnfield and Port St. Lucie, Florida, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lynnfield.
Dorothy was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late George and Janice (Vick) Ficke.
Dorothy was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore, where she was a member of the Class of 1945. She was a member of Goucher College’s Class of 1949. Prior to marrying and moving north, she taught English at Fort McHenry Jr. High School in Baltimore. She had been a Lynnfield resident since 1958 and Port St. Lucie, Florida since 1978. Dorothy loved English history, traveling and spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed walking Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield every day.
Mrs. Neavitt is survived by her husband H. Thomas Neavitt. She is also survived by her four daughters: Elizabeth L. Frank and her husband Walter of Bedford; Janice Neavitt of Charlestown; Carol Neavitt of Peabody; and Ellen Chapman and her husband Randy of Amherst, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and her two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
