WAKEFIELD — Douglas Van Powell, 77, a longtime resident of Wakefield, died Sunday, April 2, at the Winchester Hospital.
Born in Quincy March 17, 1940, he was the son of the late Edward and Pauline (Van Ummerson) Powell.
Doug was a graduate of Boston Technical High School class of 1957, and Northeastern University. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves.
He was retired from WWF Paper Corporation where he was the Corporate Credit manager.
Doug was a car enthusiast, he loved to drive and had a passion for the classic automobiles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife Alice (Yaaghdjian) Powell; his loving children, Kristine Lash and husband Kevin of North Andover, Eric Powell and wife Diana of Reading, and Danielle Dunlay and husband Richard of Tewksbury, and his adoring grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa, Chloe, and Lily. He was the brother of the late Nancy Scliffet and Alan Powell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from
10 a.m. to noon.
A graveside service will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
