LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield has been selected by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) as one of the six communities to host the public comment hearings on the Northeast Energy Direct (NED) land survey petitions for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co.
Selectmen Chairman Phil Crawford announced at Monday night’s meeting that the DPU had just released the schedule for these meetings, which will take place between late March and mid April.
The local meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Lynnfield Middle School auditorium. The other DPU meetings will be held in Pittsfield, Greenfield, Lunenburg, Dracut and Andover.
In addition to accepting oral comments at these hearings, the DPU will accept written comments through Friday, May 6, 2016. The DPU states that written comments “are given equal consideration to comments made at a public comment hearing.”
Please reference the following filing numbers when submitting written comments to the DPU: Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, D.P.U. 16-01/16-02/16-03.
Written comments will be accepted via email and should be submitted to both the Hearing Officer, Stephen August, at Stephen.August@state.ma.us and to the DPU at dpu.efiling@state.ma.us.
Alternately, those who wish to send their written comments by regular U.S. mail should send them to: Department of Public Utilities, Siting Division, 1 South Station, Boston, MA 02110, Attn: Stephen August, Hearing Officer.
The DPU advises that any property owner whose property is included in the company’s petition requesting survey authorization from the DPU will receive an additional public notice by mail in the coming weeks. This mailing will announce the public hearings dates and locations, provide a copy of the relevant petition, and provide additional information about submitting written comments to the DPU.
