WAKEFIELD — DPW crews were busy yesterday dealing with at least one water main break at the corner of Chestnut and Tuttle streets that shut down the busy intersection for at least a couple hours.

This was the second time in a week crews were in that spot.

Around 10:50 a.m. yesterday, police were asked to help with a forced entry into a building on Spring Street so DPW crews could assess the extent of a pipe break in that area.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to get trespassing youths off the roof of the abandoned mansion on Mansion Road. The youths were sent on their way, police said.

A pedestrian alerted police to an unsafe-looking sign hanging above the sidewalk in front of an Albion Street business around 8:15 a.m. yesterday. The sign was on the eastern end of Albion Street near Main Street. Police agreed that it needed to be more properly secured to the building. The Gas and Light Department responded and was able to temporarily secure the sign.

Yesterday at 9:07 a.m. police were told of youths on Lake Quannapowitt. Police were unable to locate them.

At 9:16 a.m. Thursday police received a call of an erratic driver in a light colored four door Honda heading east on Water Street. The driver allegedly was on the wrong side of the road and going through red lights. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

Someone in front of the 7-Eleven yesterday just after noon was reportedly harassing youths and may have been under the influence. When police responded, the suspect was gone.

A man playing with a dog yesterday around 1 p.m. on the new turf field at the Galvin Middle School was asked to remove the animal by police, since animals are prohited there. He did.

Two motor vehicles were reportedly blocking a driveway on Avon Street around 2 p.m. Thursday. The owners were located and the vehicles moved.

Broken windows were reported in a building in the 400 block of Main Street yesterday around 2 p.m. Police determined the windows were broken by a worker and he cleaned up the glass.

State Police were notified around 4 p.m. yesterday after someone on Karen Road reportedly saw youths playing on the shoulder of Route 128.

A vehicle blocking a driveway on Water Street around 6:40 last night was moved.

Police were told of a leaking ceiling by a resident of the 900 block of Main Street around 9:20 last night. The Fire Department investigated.

A wallet was turned into headquarters around 9:20 p.m. Thursday and returned by police to its owner.

A woman requesting medical attention at an establishment on Audubon Road was taken to the hospital around 10 last night.

A 30-year-old Wakefield woman will be summonsed for operating after her license had been revoked following an incident on Yale Avenue around 10:05 p.m. Thursday.
