LYNNFIELD — Edward R. “Hap” Bennett of Lynnfield passed away on March 6 at home surrounded by his family. He was 83-years-old.

Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Edward was the beloved husband of Lorraine R. Bennett. He was the devoted father of Nancy, Mary Jane, Eric and the late Ernie. He was the step-father of Sherry, Bob, Linda, Lisanne, Janet, Judee, Stephen and Chris. Edward is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the loving son of the late Austin and Mary (Kennedy) Bennett and he was the dear brother of Joan and her husband Bill. Edward was pre-deceased by three sisters and a brother.

Edward’s funeral from the Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., Reading, March 10 at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Edward’s eternal life in Saint Maria Goretti Parish, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Wednesday, March 9 from 4-7 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Edward’s name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis TN 38105.
