Lojkoobit-webWAKEFIELD — Edward J. Lojko, 86, of Wakefield died Jan. 19 in Boston.

Born in Newburyport on July 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Edward and Henrietta Lojko.

Mr. Lojko was raised in Newburyport and was a graduate of Newburyport High School and later earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Mass. Water Resource Authority after many years of service.

He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was also a member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks and the Crystal Community Club of Wakefield.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marie C. (Santoro) Lojko. He was the cousin of Harriet and Walter Rynkiewiz and Gail Correggio and her family of Saugus. He was the brother in-law of Grace Whitezell of Florida, Peter Santoro of Stoneham, Virginia Mancuso of Arlington and her daughter and son in-law Leah and Greg Harrington, Carmela Santoro, Sebastian Santoro and wife Elizabeth, all of Belmont. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
