U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam War

 

Edward-James-Murray-webMEMPHIS, Tenn. — Edward James Murray, 73, Memphis, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2015 at his home in Midtown. Born in Boston, Ed was a 1960 graduate of North Reading High School. Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retired as a Chief Petty Officer and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy’s Medical Corps, Ed distinguished himself as a health care administrator with posts at Health First, Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and West Clinic. He was also president of the Medical Group Management Association. He was a long-term communicant at Immaculate Conception Church.

He is survived by his beloved Joan Ray; his loving sister, Margaret Ranahan of Pembroke; seven nieces and three nephews; his brother, Arthur Durning of Colorado; his sister–-in–law, Linda Durning of North Reading; his three children, Holly Hughes of New York and sons Darryl and Eric of Florida; his grandchildren Joshua Smith-Murray, Heather Moore, William Murray, Caitlin Hughes and great–granddaughter Kyla Moore.

Mr. Murray was predeceased by his brothers, Chester Durning and Bruce Durning of North Reading.

Memorial services are to be held in Memphis and interment at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on April 17, 2015.
