Sutera-Obit-webNORTH READING — Eileen (Fagan) Sutera of North Reading, formerly of Medford, died Jan. 22, 2015. Born June 20, 1942, she was the beloved wife of Salvatore Sutera.

She was the mother of Dianna Morello and her husband Philip of Burlington and Trina Fontneau and her husband Aaron of New Hampshire. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Delia Fagan and the sister of Margaret McLaughlin and her husband William of Billerica and Rosemary Barthel and her husband Peter of Weymouth. She was the aunt of Linda, Christine, Michael, Deborah, Philip and Kevin and the grandmother of Jacob. She was also great aunt to nine grandnieces and grandnephews.

Born in Medford, Eileen was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School class of 1960. Eileen spent 10 years as a teaching sister of SSND. Eileen was a Medford teacher where she taught the fifth grade at the Gleason School for 32 years until her retirement in 2002. Eileen loved teaching. Students, family and friends were the center of Eileen’s life. After five minutes with Eileen, you were no longer a stranger but a friend. She was hardworking, kind, loving, funny, outgoing, witty, intelligent and selfless. She enjoyed writing, calligraphy and doing crafts with her young nieces, nephews and grandson. Eileen loved to travel especially her winter trips to Florida with her fellow snow bunnies. Eileen loved to celebrate special occasions with her favorites being her birthday and displaying her Irish pride on St. Patrick’s Day.

She will be fondly remembered by all of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her funeral will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park Street and Rte. 28) North Reading, on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church, 63 Winter St.(Rte. 62), North Reading at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers or donations, performing an act of kindness in Eileen’s memory would be appreciated by Eileen’s family.
