WAKEFIELD — Elaine M. “Laine” (Bates) McNulty, 48, of Wakefield died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at The Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Melrose on January 15, 1970, she was the daughter of Edward Bates and the late Elaine (Gleeson) Bates.

Laine was loved by so many. She was always on the go. Laine worked hard as one of the principal owners of the well-known and thriving Spring Air Mattress Brand. Spring Air was her life’s work and she had a passion for being part of the company built by her father, Edward, and the team.

Laine loved to go to work every day, where she made many friends. These friends became a second family and are currently some of the best relationships she has had to date.

Some of the best qualities of Laine were her love to live life, and the effect she had on people so that everyone around her had a smile on their face. She loved life and lived it on her terms. Laine loved her family and spending time with as many of them as she could. If there was a new addition to the family, or any of her many extended families, she was the first one to visit, always bearing gifts. Her love for babies and children was infectious and contagious. Laine was a godmother to a few and took that role seriously. She spoiled them with gifts, and with her time, as much as she could.

Some of Laine’s favorite pastimes were dancing, listening to her favorite band “World Premier” and attending sporting events with friends and family.

Laine was an honest fun-loving woman that judged no one. There was not one person Laine came into contact with that she couldn’t find the good in. She was one of the most generous and heartfelt persons and would literally give you the shirt off her back.

She will be missed by so many and will always be in our memories. Laine we love you, say hi to mom for all of us.

Laine was a graduate of Stoneham High School, class of 1988 and Fischer Junior College. She had been a Wakefield resident for over 25 years.

Laine is survived by her husband Scott H. McNulty, her son Tyler A. McNulty, her father Ed Bates and his wife Acileide Bates, her cousins Joe Bates Jr., Michael Bates, Jeannette Knowles, Nicholas Bates, Charlie Bates, Zack Bates, Joanne and Frank Candelora, Billy and Josephine Gleeson, Buddy Gleeson, Tiffany and Ronald Bates Jr., her uncle Ronald Bates, step-brother Edson Lopes, step-sister Katherine Evangelista, and brother-in-law Billy McNulty and his partner Elayna Evans. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and Godchildren.
