WAKEFIELD — Eleanor F. Roberts, 92, of Wakefield died Thursday, Feb. 18 in Boston.
She was born in Lynn on Nov. 26, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Myrtle (Johnson) Lord. Mrs. Roberts was a native of Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in Norfolk, Va. She had been a longtime Wakefield resident and active member of the First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon of the church.
Mrs. Roberts was the beloved wife of the late Oliver A. Roberts, whom she married in 1947. She is survived by her two sons John W. Roberts and his partner Judy and David A. Roberts and his wife Gail. She is predeceased by another son Dana A. Roberts. She was the sister of the late Myrtle Martin, Alice Carlson and Irene Johnson. She was the grandmother of Jessica, Eric, Dana and Kristin and the great-grandmother of Desirae, Michael, Holly and Sara.
Her funeral service will be held in the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St. in Wakefield on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home.
