MELROSE — Ellen L. (Bransfield-McLaughlin) Bisson, 79, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on July 27.
She was born in Boston on October 16, 1937, she was raised in Dorchester, graduated from St. Patrick Grammar School, St. Matthew High School and received her certificate as a health care professional. Ellen lived in Dorchester for many years, Salem for over 25 years and the past 20 years in Melrose.
Mrs. Bisson was a homemaker and worked as a health care professional at Spaulding Rehab in Salem for over 10 years.
She loved cooking, the beach, Richardson’s Ice Cream in Middleton, going to the movies, going out to eat and going shopping.
Ellen enjoyed taking her family to St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston, the Enchanted Village at Jordan Marsh, the Boston Public Gardens, Frog Pond, and nature in general. But most of all Mrs. Bisson loved spending time with her family.
Ellen was the loving mother of Maryellen Burns and her husband Kevin of Sandwich, Lisa Pennell of Melrose, James Bisson and his wife Deborah of Melrose, Jack Bisson of CT, Angela Herrera and her husband Rafael Ramos of Lynn, Paul K. Bisson of CA and Nicole Bisson of Peabody. She was the cherished grandmother of James, Erica, Keith, Kaitlyn, Cody, Caroline, Chantelle and Tino. She was the proud great grandmother of Isabella, Aliyah and Charlotte. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, July 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10 a.m.
Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
