LYNNFIELD — Elva P. (Veinotte) (Goodale) Batchelder, 93, of Lynnfield, formerly of Middleton, and the beloved wife of the late Paul W. Goodale and the late Lew A. Batchelder, died Sunday, Oct. 25 at Sunrise Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family.

Elva was born in Salem and was the daughter of the late Eli J. and Elizabeth (Dagley) Veinotte. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of the former Holten High School, Class of 1940.

Elva was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She was a Middleton resident for over 30 years. She was an active member of the Flint Public Library in Middleton and was an avid reader. More recently, she had been a Lynnfield resident and was an active member of the Centre Congregational Church. As a dedicated mother, Elva volunteered her time and efforts in the activities of her children, especially with the Girl Scouts of America in Middleton.

As a wife of a career military man, Elva learned to make friends quickly with her ever present smile and gracious demeanor. She loved to entertain family and friends at gatherings in her home or out on the town. She was an avid crafter, sewer and baker. Her family was paramount in her life and she performed her motherly duties with great gusto. She will be deeply missed.

She was blessed to find two great loves and companions in her life and she was equally devoted to both her late husbands, Paul W. Goodale, and the Lew A. Batchelder.

Elva is survived by her daughter, Sally Klein and her husband, Kurtis of Colleyville, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katie Klein and her husband Paul Miller of Dallas, Texas; Jordan Black and her husband Ryan of Raleigh, N.C.; Autumn Fournier of Florence; Sunstone Marchand of Grand Junction, Colo., and Ariel Marchand of Steam Boat Springs, Colo.; and her son-in-law, Hummer Marchand of Steamboat Springs. Colo. She is also survived by her seven beloved step children: Ronald Batchelder; Roger Batchelder and his wife Peggy; Bruce Batchelder; Scott Batchelder; Roy Batchelder and his wife Kathy; Joyce Hope and her husband Brian; and Janet Cushing and her husband Tim.

She is also survived by several dear and beloved step-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Deborah (Gooddale) Marchand and was the sister of the late Ronald, Francis and Doug Veinotte, Stella Hawkes, Ruth Dame, Violet McPoland and Carol Grecoe.

Her funeral service was held at the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield, on Sunday, Nov. 1. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem was private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers.
