SAUGUS — Eva P. “Ginny” Schulze, 84, of Saugus, passed away on March 30, 2017.
She was born in Marcellus Falls, New York on June 27, 1932 to John and Anna (Kawalcic) Prosonic. Ginny was raised in Marcellus Falls and graduated from the high school in 1950. Ginny went on to attend St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, New York and graduated in 1954. After graduating from Nursing School, Ginny enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably as a LTJG from 1955-1958.
Nursing was a passion of Ginny’s. Following her time in the Navy, she worked at many hospitals and nursing homes including Malden Hospital, Saugus Hospital, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Saugus Nursing Home, and Grover Manor. Despite the Navy and nursing being two major cornerstones of her life, she considered her family to be everything that mattered to her. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a passion.
She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Robert Schulze of Saugus. She was the loving mother of Anne Logsdon of Saugus; Roberta Lavery and her husband John of Melrose; Mary Schulze of Malden; James and his wife Christin of Saugus; Jeanne Schulze of Peabody; Heidi Schulze of Peabody; and Gretchen Church and her husband Lee of Richmond, Virginia. Eva was the proud grandmother of Ashley, Stephen, Andrew, Katie, Emily and Daniel. She was the great grandmother of five.
Visiting hours was held on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial was held following the visitation on Monday, April 3, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 16 Summer St., Saugus. Interment took place at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
