Malden resident with local survivors

 

MALDEN — Evelyn A. “Sissy” (Allen) Harris, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Friday, Sept 2, in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Evelyn was born in Everett in 1933, the daughter of George and Sarah Allen. She was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School with the Class of 1951. In 1953, she married her sweetheart, Raymond A. Harris, and the two settled down in Malden together to raise their family.

She is survived by her children, Catherine A. Harris of Sandwich, Raymond A. Harris Jr. and wife Shaun Bulter of New York, Richard A. Harris and wife Mary Kay of North Reading and Robert A. Harris of Saugus, and her granddaughter Courtney.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, and her siblings, Ruth, Kay, George, Harold “Buddy,” Dorothy “Dolly” and Richard.

Evelyn worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Manton Gaulin in Everett, later she worked at the Kernwood Restaurant both in Malden and Lynnfield. She enjoyed traveling around New England and was an avid reader, especially enjoying murder mysteries.

Visitation was held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
