WAKEFIELD — On Saturday, Sept. 26, visit the Colonel James Hartshorne House, 41 Church St. and experience our history.

The historic home, whose oldest part dates to 1681, is owned by the Town of Wakefield but maintained and preserved by the Colonel James Hartshorne House Association. The first floor of the home is maintained with period furnishings and is available for rental for small functions.

The open hours on Sept. 26 give the public a chance to walk through this wonderful historic home and see what it was like to live in Wakefield’s past.

The house will be open on Saturday, Sept. 26,  from noon to 2 p.m. through the courtesy of the Colonel James Hartshorne House Association.

The Hartshorne House Open House is one of the events of Wakefield Heritage Day, sponsored annually by the town’s historical organizations. This year, Heritage Day will launch an online walking tour of historic Lake Quannapowitt. For more information, contact wakefieldhistory@gmail.com or 781-246-3070; www.wakefieldhistory.org.
