NORTH READING — The public is invited to a farewell open house for Town Clerk Barbara Stats who is retiring after 40 years of service to the Town of North Reading.

The open house will be held on Friday, January 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Hillview Country Club located at 149 North Street.

As is the case in all town buildings, facial coverings will be required during the open house. Social-distancing protocols will also be in place, and visitors will be asked to limit the time they spend at the Hillview in order to safely accommodate everyone.

“While we recognize that there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases, we are confident that Hillview provides space to safely accommodate residents and others who want to wish Barbara well. I know that saying ‘thank you’ from behind a mask is not ideal, but we felt it was important to provide the public this opportunity to recognize the many years of service Barbara has provided the town,” said Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto.

Residents who are uncomfortable attending an in-person event but still wish to thank Barbara for her service are also welcome to virtually attend the Monday, January 24 meeting of the Select Board. The meeting may be accessed either by the internet at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82366018385 or via telephone by dialing (929) 205-6099, entering Meeting ID 823 6601 8385, pressing pound (#), then pressing pound (#) again.

Well wishes may also be sent by mail via the Town Administrator’s Office at Town Hall, 235 North Street, North Reading, MA 01864 and via email to townadministrator@northreadingma.gov.
