WAKEFIELD — Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Welcome to Fenway Park.

In downtown Wakefield.

The Event Planning Committee will be bringing us The Red Sox Showcase powered by T-Mobile during this year’s Festival Italia on Aug. 20.

In their continuing effort to have something for everyone, Selectman Paul DiNocco, the committee chairman, said Event Planning members noticed that past Festival Italias didn’t offer much for teenagers.

Suzanne Bowering of Holiday Travel and the Wakefield Rotary Club asked whether the committee would be interested in the brand new Red Sox Showcase, a traveling exhibit that includes batting cages, a virtual locker room, the Green Monster and much more.

It is geared toward young people and it fit the bill perfectly.

The truck will be parked on Main Street in front of Lincoln Street and Richardson Avenue. Because the Red Sox Showcase needs to be rented, the committee is asking for a $1 donation to get into the exhibit and participate in the Fenway experience.

“The Festival Italia is all about bringing something to the community that everyone can enjoy. We are excited about bringing this event to Wakefield. It is an event for all ages.

The Red Sox Showcase will bring Red Sox baseball and Fenway Park to Wakefield. Experience what it’s like to be a Red Sox player at America’s oldest ballpark. Activities include a batting cage, pitching accuracy stations, steal second timed challenge, a virtual reality experience; life size Jenga branded Red Sox game, selfie spots at a replica of the Green Monster.
