LYNNFIELD — It’s two weeks into the new year and the Lynnfield Villager is still looking for the first baby born in 2016 to a Lynnfield family.

The Villager and many other local businesses are poised to shower the lucky first baby of 2016 with a variety of generous gifts in the newspaper’s ninth annual First Baby contest.

This year’s entry deadline has been extended to MLK Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18 at noon to give families a little extra time to contact us. We’re counting on our readers to help us spread the word to any expectant parents they may know who also reside in Lynnfield.

Acceptance of the winning entry is contingent upon the mother’s and father’s consent to have a photograph published of their baby and themselves to accompany a story published in the Villager.

Entries must include documentation such as the name of the hospital or place where the baby was born, and the time and date of the baby’s birth.

newyearsbaby_webA new deadline will be announced by the Villager if a winner does not come forward by Jan. 18.

Contact the newspaper by e-mail: or by phone: 781-334-6319 or 781-245-0080 with the pertinent information.

The winning family must reside in Lynnfield. The decision of the newspaper is final. Relatives of newspaper employees or contest sponsors are ineligible.
